Some users of Macintosh OSX may have trouble opening PDF files in EBSCO databases, catalogs, and e-books. Files may be downloaded or opened as ".asp" files instead of ".pdf" files. Users may open these ".asp" files using Adobe Acrobat Reader using "File" and "Open", or they may rename the file with a ".pdf" file extnesion.
There is a more efficient method that will accomplish the same result as the above. To set up a Macintosh to automatically open a PDF:
-
Download the PDF onto your computer desktop.
-
Select it by clicking on the downloaded file once.
-
Go to File>Get Info.
-
Under Open With select Preview (default) or Adobe Reader.
-
Click on Change All so that it will always open with Preview or Reader automatically, without requiring that the above steps be followed each time.
